More Fun at the Zoo

The zoo is one of our new favorite places to go now that it is finally nice out! It is always great to have some where to go to get out of the house. Andrew always likes to go "bye bye" any chance he gets. We went a couple of weeks ago while Grandma Creason was in town.

We also went on Friday with my friend MaryJane and her son David. It just so happened to be the day the new tiger exhibit opened. It was fun seeing the tigers so close. The tigers just kept pacing back and forth watching the kids next to the glass.

Watching Daddy Mow

Andrew has recently discovered that he can see out the window by our front door. Throughout the day he will walk over and take a look outside. The other day Mark was mowing the grass and Andrew thought it was fun to watch him. I think it is so cute to see him stand on his toes to peak out there.

New Hair Cut

This post is a little overdue considering that I cut Andrew's hair about two weeks ago. As you all know Andrew has had many different hair styles in the past 17 months. Sometimes his hair has a mind of its own.

He has had his hair cut a few times, but she usually just cleans it up and doesn't cut it too short. This time Andrew got to go to Mom's Salon. I got a little advice from some friends on how to do this and I went for it. Their kids look so cute with their short hair cuts so I figured I would try it out on Andrew. I didn't mess it up too bad for my first time, but holy cow he looks like a big boy now!

After looking at all of the long hair pictures I am on the fence now. Not sure if I want it to be long or short.

Andrew's Art

Here is a little sample of some of Andrew's recent artwork. He really likes to color. We still need to keep an eye on him so he doesn't eat the crayons. I think he maybe the kid in school that eats art supplies.

Ambulance

Andrew's new favorite toy is his ambulance that he got from Grandma Points for Easter. He loves cars and trucks, but his favorite is the ambulance. The best part about the ambulance is now my house sounds like a hospital. You can always count on Grandma to get the toy that makes noise every time you push it. Oh well...Andrew loves it.

Thanks Grandma!

Daddy's Hat

I had to share these pictures of Andrew trying on Mark's hat. Anytime Mark wears a hat Andrew has to play with it.

Big Day

Today was a big day and I don't know if I should say a big for Andrew or a big day for Mommy. Mark and I decided that we need to start going back to church. We were going pretty regularly until Andrew got to an age where he was impossible to deal with during the service. We never took him to the nursery because we didn't really know anyone. I guess it made me feel weird leaving my baby with a stranger.

We have attended this church many times now and we were ready for him to give it a try. This morning I was a little nervous because I was just unsure how Andrew would respond to us dropping him off in the kids room. We have never really left him with anyone other than family and friends. I wanted to get there a little early so we could fill out the paperwork. I was prepared to spend a little time in the room helping him get comfortable. Of course, we were not early.

Mark dropped us off at the door so I could get Andrew settled. When I went in I filled out some paperwork and we found the correct room for him. There were four teachers and about eight kids in the room. I was holding Andrew and dreading the fact that he was probably going to freak out as soon as I put him down. One of the teachers said that she would take him. I handed him over and they went to put my diaper bag away. The other teacher told me to fill out this sheet. It asked for his name and how long to let him cry. Then I just pictured him crying and missing us. After I quickly filled it out, I looked up and watched the teacher put Andrew down. He ran over to a ball and started playing.

I was relieved that it went well. I turned around and left the classroom. Mark was waiting outside in the hall. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed with emotion!!! I started to get teary eyed real fast! Where did this come from? My baby just went with the teacher and started playing like a big boy! He didn't even look back. I had this overwhelming feeling that my baby just turned into a big boy. He was like Mommy who??

Of course, I couldn't stay very focused in church. I was thinking about him the whole time and hoping he was having fun. About half way through the service I decided to go check on him. They have a window in the room that is like a two way mirror. All of the kids were sitting at the table eating a snack. He looked like such a little man sitting there with his snack.

When church was over Mark and I went to pick him up. We both went in the room and he was very busy playing. He finally caught a glance of us and his face lit up. The way the room is set up you have to wait for the teacher to hand the kids over to you. Well, I guess the teacher wasn't moving fast enough for Andrew and he started to cry. He missed us!!

I guess this is just a preview of what the first day of school is like or all of the other moments that are ahead when watch your kids grow up. It still feels like yesterday when I just wanted Andrew to sleep through the night. This kid amazes me everyday. I love him so much!!

I will keep you posted on how it goes next week...
